Billbergias as a group can be grown and colored very small (6 inches) or taller, it all depends on how much they are fed.
Less food results in smaller plants. Billbergia Poquitos Mas can produce very nice 6 inch plants.
The final coloration is best done in 70% to 90% sun light, with no food. Low fertilizer rates can also reduce any stripy (elongated) leaf growth and produce the more desirable vase shape, as seen in the Bill. Novena picture.
Bill. Moulin Rouge and Bill. Hallelujah produce the stripiest leaves and the others can produce very nice vase shapes.
Low light and continuous fertilizer produces giant green Billbergias.
Use no food and bright light to finish Billbergias.
